Barcy Red is a network of more than 60km of purpose built recreational motorbike riding trails. Barcy Red is open 365 days a year and is free to ride. You need to complete a free Barcy Red Rider Digital Pass on the Barcy Red App before you can ride the trails.

Barcaldine Regional Council has developed the Barcy Red Trails for the benefit of locals and as another tourism experience asset for the region.

With a proud history of adventure Barcaldine is now home to one of the world’s premier motorbike tourism experiences, designed by international Dakar Rally superstar Rod Faggotter, and encompassing more than 60km of purpose-built motorbike trails with options to suit all skill levels.

THE BARCY RED PROJECT

TRACK CONCEPT AND DEVELOPMENT

Barcaldine Regional Council has worked closely with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Police in the development of the Barcy Red motorbike trails. The Barcy Red motorbike trails are not considered to be roads so normal registration and licensing is not required for their use. In order to participate all riders need to register for free via the Barcy Red App and be issued a Barcy Red Rider Digital Pass prior to riding on the trails. This pass may be requested to be seen by Council, Queensland Police or any of their representatives. Unlicensed riders, and riders of unregistered motorbikes, will not be covered by general motor vehicle insurance or compulsory third party insurance. Barcy Red encourages, if possible, riders to obtain personal accident insurance and non-compulsory third party liability insurance to meet liability for injuries or damage to property they may incur by undertaking a motorbike trail riding activity.

By using the Barcy Red motorbike trails, you (the user) waive any claim you may have against Council, and you indemnify and release Council from liability in respect of any claim made by you, or made by third persons, against Council, due to or arising out of your use of the trails (whether negligent or otherwise) or you breaching the Code of Conduct or not complying with trail signage.

CREATING THE TRACKS

Barcaldine Regional Council recognises the great effort of the Barcy Red team and volunteers who have made Barcy Red a reality from conception to on the ground.

Warning!

Motorbike trail riding is a dangerous recreational activity undertaken on rough terrain and in a remote area.

  • The Barcy Red motorbike trails include jumps, drops, technical features, and are unsupervised.

  • The trails and various technical features have been designed to cater for a wide variety of rider abilities.

  • Know your ability and ride within your skill levels. See Barcy Red Trail Difficulty Grading signage.

  • Animals including livestock and native animals are known to be present on and around the trails.

  • Children must be supervised at all times.
